High School Football is officially back for The Reading Blue Devils. The Reading Blue Devils enter the season with high expectations this year. The Blue Devils were 7-4 in Cripe's first season with The Blue Devils. Cripe had been with The Reading Blue Devils football since 2018 as the assistant and O line coach under former coach Cody Reardon, now the offensive coordinator for The Indian Hill Braves Football team. Cripe helped the Blue Devils guide them to their 2nd straight winning season. This year Reading comes in with a lot of talent back on their roster. Tight end Ben Nash, Running back's Austin Fancher, and Landen Schaefer. They also return their whole entire offensive line and defensive line starters. Reading this year will be led by first-year starting quarterback junior Charlie Hess. Reading will be back running their Wing T offense for the second straight year. Reading has been a spread offense for years, and they would like to improve their Wing T game for the 2nd straight year. This year Reading opens up with The Woodward Bulldogs of The Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference. Woodward finished conference play last year 1-4, and 5-6 overall before being taken down in the first round of the playoffs by 2022 regional finalist Hamilton Badin. This year Woodward has a new quarterback after their quarterback Armoud Seals who led the CMAC in passing yards transferred to Taft who Reading plays in Week 2. Woodward will be led by first-year starting quarterback sophomore JaSiah Williams. Woodward will also be led by their 3-star wide receiver, Donte Ferrell, who announced his verbal commitment to Colorado State in June. Reading would like to start their 2023 season campaign on a good note as they honor the late Andy Ramsey on Andy Ramsey Night. On Friday, August 18th, 2023 Reading will hold their official retirement ceremony of Andy Ramsey's #12 jersey. Coach Cripe said the #12 jersey will be worn by one football player who shows hard work, and grit on and off the football field on the first home game of the year. This year the #12 jersey will be worn by Running Back Austin Fancher in honor of Ramsey's Memory.
